چکیده
By using the Onsager variational principle as an approximation tool, we develop a new diffusion generated motion method for wetting problems. The uses signed distance function to represent interface between liquid and vapor surface. In each iteration, linear equation with boundary condition is solved one time step in addition simple re-distance volume correction step. has first-order convergence rate respect size even vicinity three-phase contact points. Its energy stability property analysed by careful studies some geometric flows on substrates. Numerical examples show that can be used simulate complicated problems inhomogeneous surfaces.

Diffusion generated motion using signed distance functions
We describe a new class of algorithms for generating a variety of geometric interfacial motions by alternating two steps: Construction of the signed distance function (i.e. redistancing) to the interface, and convolution with a suitable kernel. These algorithms can be seen as variants of Merriman, Bence, and Osher’s threshold dynamics [25]. The new algorithms proposed here preserve the computat...
متن کاملDiffusion-Generated Motion by Mean Curvature for Filaments
In previous work, we introduced a simple algorithm for producing motion by mean curvature of a surface, in which the motion is generated by alternately diiusing and renormalizing a characteristic function. This procedure is interesting due to its extreme simplicity, and because it isolates the connection between diiusion and curvature motion. However, it makes sense only for surfaces, i.e. obje...
متن کاملDiffusion Generated Motion for Recrystallization and Grain Growth
A new numerical approach for the efficient computation of grain boundary motion is used to simulate normal grain growth and recrystallization in three dimensions with high accuracy. The method is based on the diffusion of signed distance functions and shares similarities with level set methods. The Herring angle condition at junctions and topological transitions are naturally captured with this...
متن کاملAn Efficient Collocation Method for a Non-local Diffusion Model
The non-local diffusion model provides an appropriate description of the deformation of a continuous body involving discontinuities or other singularities, which cannot be described properly by classical theory of solid mechanics. However, because the non-local nature of the non-local diffusion operator, the numerical methods for non-local diffusion model generate dense or even full stiffness m...
متن کاملAn efficient differential quadrature method for fractional advection-diffusion equation
Abstract Using a set of modified cubic trigonometric B-splines as test functions, a new differential quadrature technique is proposed for the 1D and 2D transient advection-diffusion equations of order α ∈ (0, 1]. The weighted coefficients are determined via solving the system of algebraic equations with a strictly diagonally dominant tri-diagonal matrix. Then, the original equation is converted...
